GPA & Honours/ High Honours 5th Prep- 6th Form
in PowerSchool

1. Each subject has a specific amount of credits, according to the number of class hours per week in which it is taught.

2. The system uses a formula we have called GPA St. George to calculate the GPA (grade point average) per Marking Period. The system rounds the first two digits after the decimal point. This is the formula:
round((gpa_sum(gpa_gpapoints()*gpa_potentialcredit())/sum(gpa_potentialcredit())),2)

3. To obtain Honours students need to have an average GPA between 3.6o to 3.83 at the end of each semester. This is the equivalent of a 90 to 95% average.
To obtain High Honours students need to have an average GPA between 3.84 to 4.00 at the end of each semester. This is the equivalent of a 96 to 100% average.
Students who obtain Honours or High Honours are recognized during the December and End of Year assemblies.

4.Consecutive Honours: these are awarded during the End of Year Assembly to those students who in both semesters succeeded in obtaining Honours or High Honours in each marking period.
Consecutive High Honours: these are awarded during the End of Year Assembly to those students who in both semesters succeeded in obtaining High Honours in each marking period.

5. School Scholarship: this is awarded during the End of Year Assembly to those students who obtain the highest GPA (grade point average) of the year in their grade level.
