HEAD OF SCHOOL’S MESSAGE

As Head of School, as well as mother of two graduates and an Upper School student, I am proud of the education we provide. During its 54 year trajectory, SGS has prided itself in offering a solid international academic preparation, which of course is a priority. However, equally relevant to us are the ethical and social competencies we believe are necessary for students to achieve success in procuring not only their own well-being and happiness, but that of their community as a whole. We recognize, of course, that education is a shared responsibility between the school and the families. Our success in developing young people of sound character and values is therefore the result of this partnership with parents.

I consider Saint George School to be my second home, my extended family. The warmth and openness of every single member of our school is evident, and we believe this is a result of our educational philosophy that transcends the more than 40 different nationalities and cultures that interact on a daily basis. This feeling of warmth within our school community is palpable to visitors, who very often express this as soon as they set foot on our campus and are received by our attentive admissions personnel.

I understand that choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions a parent will make. At SGS we aim to develop students to their maximum potential, always taking into consideration their individualities, while at the same time making their school experience enjoyable.

The school is accredited by the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic, New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and is a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS), the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) since 1995, and of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) since 2016. These parternships ensure that our students receive one of the best bilingual and international educations possible.

Our website will provide you with a glimpse of what the Saint George experience is about. However, I invite you to visit us to get a better idea of why we call ourselves the SGS Family.
